Selinsgrove’s Vet Clinic - Companion Animal Hospital of Selinsgrove

On April 10, 2026, we brought our cat to Quakertown Veterinary Hospital for a sedated dental exam due to pain. What occurred that day was unacceptable, unprofessional, and resulted in a medical emergency caused while our cat was under their care.
From the moment we arrived, staff behavior was inappropriate. While sitting in the waiting room, we overheard front desk staff openly talking about other clients and their animals in a disrespectful and mocking manner.
After being taken to an exam room, our cat was brought to the veterinarian in another room. While waiting, we overheard staff in the hallway complaining about another patient—a frightened dog—saying it “wouldn’t shut up,” that they put a muzzle on it, and that its whining was “irritating.” This showed a complete lack of empathy for animals in distress.
We were later told a sedated dental exam with X‑rays should be done. We were given an estimate of around $700, which we agreed to without hesitation. We were told the procedure would take about an hour and a half.
Before stepping out briefly, I informed the front desk we would only be gone a few minutes. I was then asked to sign a resuscitation consent form, which I did because our cat is family.
Within three minutes, I received a call saying our cat had gone into cardiac arrest under sedation and CPR was being performed. We returned immediately.
While waiting for the veterinarian, we overheard staff in the hallway joking about CPR, stating they “had a really fun time” performing it—while our cat was fighting for her life. This was disgusting and inexcusable.
The veterinarian eventually told us she believed our cat had undiagnosed heart disease, despite:

No prior symptoms
A lifetime of good health
Normal bloodwork performed just two days earlier

We were advised to leave our cat hospitalized overnight. Given the behavior we witnessed throughout the day, we did not trust this facility and chose to take our cat home to be with her family.
At checkout, we were told we received a $111 discount, yet our bill was over $800, including $689 for CPR and emergency drugs. We were told this was acceptable because we signed the resuscitation consent—even though the cardiac arrest occurred under their sedation during a non‑emergency procedure.
We were charged hundreds of dollars for a life‑threatening event they caused, while staff laughed and joked in the hallway.
This hospital demonstrated:

No professionalism
No compassion
No respect for clients or animals
No acceptable standard of care

I strongly advise anyone who loves their pets to seek veterinary care elsewhere. After reading other reviews, our experience matches what many others have reported almost word for word.
I recently had to come in to the ER with a cockatiel I got from a bad situation that wasn’t in great health. We brought her in to our normal vet a few days ago for some issues, when they got worse suddenly we brought her in. All of the staff was very attentive and got her into an oxygen chamber to help her hang breathing. Unfortunately, she passed away before Dr. Free could even examine her.
So while I can’t quite comment on the quality of care, everyone who we spoke with was very kind, empathetic, and attentive to our questions. Because of this I would come back again no question. I feel comfortable knowing an ER is nearby that I can bring my other birds to. Since there wasn’t really any care done, we had no charges. They also sent us home with a beautiful box to bury our little Lemon in, free of charge. Thank you to the team on staff yesterday who tried to help her!

I have been taking my Siberian Husky here since I moved 5 years ago and I have nothing but a positive experience every time. Due to a change in staff, I recently switched to Dr Luckenbach and she too was incredible with my stubborn husky. My girl was in mood this week and wanted no parts of her annual vet visit but both Dr Luckenbach and the Vet Tech Megan were so patient and caring. People may say that QVC costs more than other places (pricing seems far to me), but you get what you pay for and my animals deserve the best. Whether it's an annual visit, emergency, surgery to remove cancer, or for boarding, I recommend them 10 out of 10 times!

Does NOT deserve any stars. They can’t fill out simple forms right and terrible job. Took my dog to get her nails done, they gave my dog a shot WITHOUT my consent, forced my dog while they did a terrible job on her nails and made her bleed

The staff was so helpful and this place is gorgeous. Unfortunately our cat Marty consumed part of a rubber stretchy fidget and we had to make the 1.5 hour drive from Scranton at 11pm. After showing up to the vet in Wilkes Barre and being told it was a 15 hour wait, I called others in the area and their wait times were 2-6 hours. Quakertown had no wait, and did inform me that there were two people in the queue on their way but even when we got there, the other people were already in rooms and we were taken right away. Speaking on the phone with the scheduler, he was very clear about where to park, what doors we needed to use, etc. The lady at the front desk was great and enjoyed seeing Marty. The vet was incredibly helpful and explained things in easy to understand language and showed us the Xrays. While there was nothing more they could do and we just had to wait it out, I left feeling like I had done everything I could do and felt confident about caring for my cat until he passed the item. Thankfully I found the item on the floor in 48 hours. I would gladly visit them, and pay the money, again any time I need an emergency vet. I highly recommend them.
