Selinsgrove’s Vet Clinic - Companion Animal Hospital of Selinsgrove

I took one of my cats here this morning and she sadly had to be put down. I knew this when I called their clinic. From the moment I called, I was met with empathy and understanding. Everyone who worked there (that I interacted with) are definitely working in the right field and it made today a little easier. They gave me all the time my cat and I needed, before and after. I wasn’t made to wait when I got there and my information was taken over the phone to make everything flow easier.

I brought my frenchie here for a spinal injury and can’t say enough good things about my experience with the staff here. The woman at the front desk helped me with multiple things and was extremely accommodating and kind. They brought him back immediately due to his symptoms and addressed his pain and made sure he was stable. The vet came in and gave me options and didn’t up-charge with any services that weren’t necessary. Last night was of the hardest nights watching my baby go through such a terrible injury and I’m so thankful for such an attentive and understanding staff that truly cared.

Amazing staff! Drive to Harrisburg for a ferret emergency and was told closest place that handles those pets is Quakertown. They were quick and amazing!!!!

I have always had a great experience at Quakertown Vet Clinic. I travel an hour each way to go there, especially to see Dr. Consigli but to me it is always worth the trip to get such good, compassionate care. I totally respect the opinions, advise and treatments received. I would go no where else with my pets. I would highly recommend this Clinic.
Vary good veterinary care and attention to detail.

I had to rush my bird in for an emergency visit. My first time at this vet was filled with understanding and compassion. All staff were super friendly and quick. They eased my pain when I found out my bird couldn't be saved. If I didn't live an hour away, I would make them my primary vet.

Avoid this clinic at all costs. Reviews mentioning that Quakertown Veterinary Clinic is now in partnership with Community Veterinary Partners and TerraVet Real Estate solutions are accurate. These companies acquire clinics and expand the services to be "state of the art," but those upgrades come with a significant price premium compared to before the acquisition.

Be prepared for sticker shock. The low and high estimates presented are substantial, and full payment of the low-end estimate is required before treatment begins.

The demeanor and attitude of the veterinarian felt hardened and uncaring. Phrases like "I just work here and I don't set the prices" are common. There appears to be high staff turnover, as veterinarians we previously worked with are no longer there. We also did not receive follow-up calls regarding our pet, despite the high cost of care.

In the last year alone, I spent over $3,000 here to remove a blockage in my dog. More recently, a 10-year old Lab/Shepherd mix in my immediate family was brought in for a foreign body obstruction.

- Estimated cost for a 2-day stay: ~$3,000+
- Extended to 3 days: ~$6,000+
- Surgery estimate: $7,000+ - $10,000+

Despite the dog’s pneumonia and other pre-existing conditions documented by a prior veterinarian, your clinic aggressively prioritized immediate surgery, the most expensive option, contradicting the prior recommendation to treat the pneumonia first. Given the overall health outlook and financial burden, we declined treatment and took the dog home.

Pet owners beware!

After posting this review, I received a certified letter from the clinic discontinuing future services. There was no phone call or attempt to discuss my concerns beforehand.

1/31/26 - Response to owner

We disagree with the characterization of our interaction. We were emotional, but not verbally harassing staff. During the second consultation—after refusing treatment due to cost—no alternative payment options were presented, nor was speaking with management offered. The estimate felt very much “take it or leave it.”

While you state pricing reflects the level of medicine practiced, emergency veterinary clinics increasingly operate with corporate pricing models, without the same ethical or legal obligation to treat when clients cannot afford care. ROI for corporate partners is clearly built into the pricing strategy.

We were asked to sign a liability release before leaving with our dog. We refused and were still allowed to leave, which underscores how one-sided the process felt.

Prices aren’t based on affordability. They’re based on what the public is willing to pay.
A double-edged sword.
