No Show & Cancellation Policy
Due to many people working from home over the past year, there has been a significant increase in pet ownership. Because of this increase, many veterinary hospitals (including CAH) are finding it increasingly difficult to schedule appointments for our already existing clients/patients, let alone all of the new ones. Often times, we are booked out for weeks for wellness exams and scrambling to double-book our doctors and technicians every day for medical emergencies. It is not uncommon that we need to turn people and their pets away to nearby emergency clinics (who are also overwhelmed with the influx of patients and experiencing extremely long wait times). We wish we could schedule every client that calls, but the reality is, when we overbook our doctors and technicians, their attention is being pulled in too many directions. It is for this reason that we can only take on so many additional appointments in the day without risking mistakes being made and extreme wait times.
All this being said, it is incredibly disheartening when someone does not show up to their appointment and does not notify us of their cancellation beforehand. We set appointment times aside so that pets can be seen in a timely manner. For this reason, our 3 hour cancellation policy will now be strictly enforced. We ask that, when you are unable to make your pet’s appointment, please notify us immediately (phone/text/email). If we are closed or are unavailable, please leave a message. During normal business hours, our voicemail is being checked every 5-10 minutes at least.
In the event we do not hear from you within 3 hours prior and you do not make it to your pet’s appointment, a $100.00 non-refundable deposit will be required when scheduling your pet’s next doctor’s appointment and a $50.00 non-refundable deposit will be required when scheduling your pet’s next technician appointment. This fee will be absorbed into the overall cost of your pet’s appointment and any leftover amount will remain as a credit to be used towards your next visit.
We do appreciate your understanding of these policies. As a hospital, our day-to-day schedule fluctuates, emergencies happen, and wait times may vary. Notifying us of your cancellation will allow us to open up the appointment slot for another pet in need. Our aim is for this to result in less emergency/double-booked appointments, which ultimately would result in less wait times for everyone.
